Joe Auer

Joe Auer, better known as SwimmerJoe, is an award-winning blogger and native Floridian, who has been involved with Florida Swimming for almost 40 years.

As an age grouper swimming for the Blue Dolfins, one of Central Florida’s oldest teams, Joe owned several national and state age group records, and was a eight-time Florida High School State Champion and All-American. Joe was then a swimmer at the University of Florida, where he swam under the legendary Randy Reese and was an Olympic Trial qualifier.

Still an avid athlete, Joe is a 1:25.00 half-marathoner, a 3:15.00 marathoner, and a 4:55.00 Half Ironman finisher (at age 43). As a USA Swimming coach of 20+ years, he has worked with swimmers of all levels, from age groupers through Olympic Trial qualifiers.

And avid family man, Joe’s son Jackson was a state finalist every year throughout high school career, while his wife Bess is the founder of Florida Swim Network. There are probably very few individuals who are more passionate about promoting Florida’s age group, club and high school swimmers than Joe, so we’re proud to have him at the helm of “On Deck with Florida Swim Network.”
